USAC issued their estimate of demand for E-Rate FY2019-20. The estimate is the total amount of funding requested on the FY2019 FCC Forms 471 that were received on or before March 27, 2019, the close of the FY2019 FCC Form 471 filing window. As reported to the FCC, tht total demand is $2,896 billion of which $1.91 billion is for Category 1 services (telecommunications and Internet Access) and $985 million is for Category 2 services (Internal Connections, Basic Maintenance, and Managed Internal Broadband Connections). There were 35,930 applications received in window and 68,070 funding requests.
The funding cap for FY2019 is $4.151 billion. Therefore, all valid funding requests will receive funding. E-Rate stakeholders, however, should keep in mind that funding is not available until a funding commitment decision letter has been issued and the applicant files the FCC Form 486 to confirm receipt of service. Additionally, USAC will not issue disbursements prior to July 1, 2019.
