E-rate applications for FY2019
Can be filed as early as Wednesday, January 16, 2019 and as late as 11:59 pm EDT on Wednesday March 27, 2019.
What this means for you:
1. Administrative Window closes January 15, 2019. Schools will need to update their enrollment information, site changes, etc. online in the USAC Erate portal before January 15. Note that for KSLLC clients, we manage this process for them. Since libraries and consortia rely on the school E-rate discounts for their E-rate applications, USAC will "lock the school profiles" and will not reopen the school profiles until April 2019.
2. Last date to file an FCC Form 470 is February 27, 2019. The last date to file a Form 470 (competitive bidding period) for FY 2019 will be on or before February 27, 2019. However, since applicants have to evaluate bids, award a bidder, then negotiate a contract, and finally prepare and submit their E-rate application prior to the deadline, we would never recommend waiting that long to start the process. KSLLC's E-Rate professionals can assist applicants throughout the competitive bidding process from initial planning to funding. Please CONTACT US if you know a school or library in need of expert assistance.
3. We recommend that applicant schools and libraries take advantage of the last year for Category Two funding under the E-rate Modernization Order that started in 2015. It's not too late for applicants to file their Form 470s to take advantage of this valuable funding . This upcoming E-rate year, FY2019, is the fifth year of the E-Rate Modernization program that provides approx $156.32/per student as a budget cap for E-rate discounts on network equipment including wireless access points, switches, routers, firewalls, and cabling. Eligible schools and libraries can also receive discounts up to 85% on basic maintenance or managed internal broadband services. We are hoping that the FCC will renew the program for 2020, but no one knows for sure! Our team of E-Rate professionals are ready and open to assist applicants who need an E-rate Expert to guide them through the process.
