FCC Releases 2018 Eligible Services List

Thursday, October 5, 2017 12:00 AM

The FCC released the E-Rate FY 2018-19 Eligible Services List on 10/5/2017. The list is used by participating schools and libraries to determine what products and services are eligible for E-rate discount.

Additionally, the FCC authorized USAC to open the annual application filing window no earlier than "60 days after the release of this order" or December 4, 2017.

The FCC clarified the eligibility of on-premises Network Equipment with both Category One and Category Two functionalities.  They also stated that inside wiring for a single building that houses two or more schools is eligible for Category Two support.

Kellogg & Sovereign Consulting had submitted comments requesting that the FCC provide clarification regarding the procedures for an applicant seeking support for two funding requests for the same service during a transition between service providers.  The FCC declined to address the issue but stated that "applicants may not seek reimbursement for both services during any period of overlap when transitioning from one provider to another."
